Can you immagine to have the sunshine everywhere and every time you want it? Coelux is a technological indoor window capable to recreate a sunny sky. Through the combination of the latest LED technology which reproduces the sunlight’s spectrum; a sophisticated optical system that creates the sensation of the distance between the sky and the sun; and nanostructured materials, only a few millimeters thick, which recreate the entire Rayleigh scattering process occurring in the atmosphere, you are able to truly experience a sunny outdoors while indoors.
The project won the first prize as Light Source Innovation of the Year at 2014 Lux Awards in London and was claimed by the judges a “groundbreaking artificial skylight that really has to be seen to be believed.”
Born from the desire to communicate natural light, CoeLux is the result of a 10-year scientific searching project by Professor Paolo Di Trapani, a physicist of the Department of Science and High Technology at the Insubria University in Como.
The technological window CoeLux can really bring the beauty of the solar light everywhere: offices, basements, hotels, undergrounds and hospitals.
By changing the angle and the cut of the light, you have the chance to experience three different types of settings: the light of Northern Europe, the Mediterranean atmoshere and The Tropics.
For those who prefer the more dramatic slice of tropical light, CoeLux 60 is the best choice with the maximum luminance contrast of light and shadow. For lovers of the balacend light of the Mediterranean basin there is CoeLux 45, while for the enthusiasts of Nordic countries, CoeLux 30 is available, a 30 degree angle beam wall window capable to reproduce a warm, grazing light.
CoeLux Srl is a hightech start-up o, founded by Professor Paolo Di Trapani and headquartered in ComoNext technology park – Lomazzo (Como Italy).
CoeLux is a research project funded by the European Union under the 7th Framework Program for research and development and one of the 12 most technologically innovative projects in Europe, already hosted at the Innovation Convention 2014 in Brussels.
