“Illegally” entered the Giardini at the Venice Biennale, the group of artists Der Strich installed a Champagne Bar, on May 30th 2013 at 3.30 pm, and began “I’ll be so glad” a three hour performance during the VIP opening.
Employing cruelty, humor and irony, Der Strich communicates an image of the ambivalent situation of artists today. The bar was supported only by the physical strength of us female artists. The performance “I’ll be so glad” was named after an Afro-American slavery song.
