The increasing convergence of workplace and world of hospitality created new types of armchairs and seating systems that welcome, protect, define privacy areas or configurate sets for communities. We have named them system for in-between areas, but their function is evolving. And the high back is a must!
The “third spaces” are becoming “first spaces”.
The armchairs with high backs or with ears are innumerable, but many new shapes were launched at Orgatec.
They are not really new: WOW! had already reported the first examples of high backed seating in 2012…
The novelty is in the approach and the new way of using armchairs and sofas. At the beginning they were furniture for in-between areas (between the desks).
They actually seem to be able to replace the desks. Nowadays not only Millennials are used to work with their laptops on the sofa!
Bring ergonomics to in-between areas.
Working sprawling can lead to non-ergonomic postures, but you can solve the problem providing sofas and armchairs with accessories and integrated technological equipment that can turn the seats into real workstations.
For example height adjustable and rotating small tables, arm rests, electrical sockets and USB.
The quantity and quality of the accessories and sectionality are decisive elements. As well as the easy reconfiguration and portability.
Forms and upholstery between design and fashion.
These generously shaped seats can give a cool image to the most refined headquarters thanks to the glamour image with signs, colors and finishes borrowed from the fashion world.
Padded, quilted, “canetted” and wrinkled or with evident stitching, they enhance the tactile qualities of high-performance upholstery fabrics, selected with great care in surprising color combinations.
The structures in evidence, sometimes become a decorative element, too.
