
Acoustics, dominating theme at Salone Ufficio, is also the topic of the winner project of Salone Satellite Award.
The winners of the 4th edition are:
1st Prize: TANIA DA CRUZ (Italy), “BRAQUE”.
The “Braque” soundproofing system is adaptable to any context, thanks to the free, virtually unlimited possibilities for configuring the modules. It responds to the highest technical and esthetic standards of design, while optimizing the sustainability of natural cork.
2nd Prize: RE DESIGN STUDIO (Egypt), “PLASTEX”.
A fabric whose simplicity makes it easily understandable to everyone. Noteworthy is its adoption of ancient weaving techniques to create a new sustainable material with high performance and multiple uses. It clearly and concretely conveys an important message of ethical responsibility.
3rd Prize: POETIC LAB (Great Britain), “WAVE”.
The “Wave” lamp is an emotional interpretation of the relationship between light, glass and motion, relying exclusively on a simple, readily available device and exploiting the natural reflective properties of the material.
Honorable Mention (in alphabetical order):
ANDREA BORGOGNI (Italy), “MAYBE”.
The underlying design of the “Maybe” chair has wider practical applications and lends itself to industrial production. It belongs to the current line of enquiry into reducing materials and components, focusing on economy of storage and transport.
MECEDORAMA (Spain), “HOBBS TWINS”
The double rocking chair “Hobbs Twins” celebrates the marriage of ancient artisanal techniques and contemporary forms. Its playful message succeeds in suggesting new applications and developments for venerable techniques that risk extinction.
MATIAS RUIZ (Chile), “LAMP STICK 210”.
“Stick 210” is a wooden lamp that combines function and esthetics, capturing the spirit of contemporary style in an original way.
