CUF Milano, a Centrufficio brand, launches the first result of a great experimentation that marks its turning point towards a more responsible future: the table of the Gleb office furniture collection, designed by Matteo Origoni – Studio Origoni Steiner., made using recycled fiberglass composite materials for the first time.
The research is part of the European FiberEUse project coordinated by Marcello Colledani, of the Politecnico di Milano, which boasts the collaboration of other prestigious partners from 7 European Union countries, aimed at finding solutions suitable for the recovery of fiberglass compounds. and carbon, and to support the industry in the transition towards a virtuous model of circular economy.
The recycling of these materials, popular in many manufacturing sectors such as transport, construction and energy sector due to their greater lightness and resistance to corrosion than metals, is a very demanding task and a complex challenge.
Most of these end their life cycle in landfills because so far no significant added value has been demonstrated in their reuse and regeneration.
Today their unrivaled lightness combined with very high resistance finds a different use in furniture design, indicating new paths towards sustainability.
