The 22nd edition of Proposte, internationa exhibition on Furnishing Fabrics and Curtains that opens today in Cernobbio, is brave to contrast the crisis.
“To survive, textile companies must be able to keep amazing their audiences with beauty, research, innovation and service.” addresses the Director Massimo Mosiello: “In the future, the market will only have room for businesses that stay a step ahead of the competition.” stresses the Chairman Piercarlo Viganò.
And indeed, as you go round the stands, you will find the collections reveal what great lengths the companies have gone to in making their respective products. You will find Proposte’s long-serving regulars exhibiting alongside new industries who bear testimony to the evolution of the upholstery and interior textile world, each in their own specific field. To mention but a few: Alcantara with a product that has countless applications, brought up to current sustainability and environmental responsibility standards; Engelbert E. Stieger, renowned producer who collaborates with the world’s leading textile designers; the revamped Gaetano Rossini company, who offer 3D fabrics varying in thickness, hardness and fibre in addition to a range of regular textiles; Lemaitre Demeestere, located in the heart of the French linen district since 1835, who can produce linen textiles weighing anything between 100 to 1000 grams per square metre.
And while we’re still on the subject of optimistic recovery, you won’t want to miss the sculptural installation by artist Giulio Ciampi on display in the Central Hall, entitled Nascita di una nuova speranza (Birth of a new hope).
