Development, sustainability and responsibility. These three words have guided the XXVI edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro, held for the first time in the spaces of the new ADI Design Museum in Milan. The 18 Compasso d’Oro awards, assigned by the international jury chaired by Denis Santachiara, are also joined by 9 Compasso d’Oro Career Awards, 3 International Compasso d’Oro International Career Awards and, for the first time, 3 Compasso d’Oro Product Career Awards.
“The reasons for development must be measured against those of sustainability and extended responsibility far beyond the boundaries of a pragmatism which tends to make the truth conveniently coincide with utility.” With these words, Luciano Galimberti, president of ADI, presented the award ceremony of the XXVI Compasso d’Oro, at the same time as the “Mettere Radici” exhibition that inaugurates the new ADI Design Museum, in via Ceresio 7 in Milan.
The exhibition, open with free admission until September 16, includes the installation of a “seed” from which 18 new trees sprout, one for each winner, which will become part of the ForestaMi urban forestry project, a symbol of the values that guide this edition: development, sustainability and responsibility.
“The renovated building of the ADI Design Museum – Compasso d’Oro, open to the public in preview for this edition of the award, is not only a significant symbol of the history of Italian culture, but it is the concrete tool of the work we are preparing for: spreading the values of the project to the general public ”, concluded Umberto Cabini, president of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Collection Foundation.
For what concerns the category of furniture and accessories for the office, Universal Selecta‘s Chakra was awarded.
