Art and Retail: Forum Palermo.

The artworks by Maurilio Catalano inside the Sicilian Mall designed by Lombardini22.

The biggest shopping mall Retail & Leisure in western Sicily designed by Lombardini22 relies on art to evoke the Mediterranean symbols and atmosphere.

The Mall develops on one level only: the arcade takes up the whole ground floor and winds up through the mall and the three squares.  Bright and very accurate spaces create a pleasant and relaxing ambience. We tried to design a momentous building – Adolfo Suarez explains – fitting into the surroundings and eco-friendly. From these preliminary remarks, geometries and volumes emerge, that refer to the memory of the Sicilian landscape. The enhancement of the project and its contextualization into the local fabric also got through the artistic form of the sea theme with the signs, at times archaic, and a marked chromatic significance by the Sicilian artist Maurilio Catalano.
