Zero, a brilliant “pirate” filmakers group based in Rome, chose an ironic and effective way to report a case, unfortunately too widespread: to expect creative work for free. The video-campaign “Creativo sì, coglione no.” (I’m a Creative, not an Idiot) is drawing crowds on YouTube. Don’t miss it!
It’s an awareness campaign to spread respect for creative jobs, a message for freelance e knowledge workers, for the young and the not so young (as in my case!): we are fed up with answers like “there is no budget for this project” but it “gives visibility” and “makes CV”. It’s disrespectful to ask for free advice to people, who live on “selling” ideas and intangible contents; and to propose articles to be published for free, too. We hope the new Ways Of Working include an ethic view and respect for inventiveness. Congratulation to Zero! (watch their manifesto).
I’m certainly going to contact you in case I need some videos, but only if there is a budget!
