ING contest for the rebranding of the Italian branches of the bank was won by GaS Studio (Goring & Straja). The “building blocks” concept by GaS was appreciated for it tackled all challenges. The chief goal was to get attractive and friendly branches by enhancing the consultancy potential.
In response to requests from ING, all placed had to be provided with special areas ( ATM, welcome, waiting, video and self service areas) and different workstations for quick consultancy and targeted advice.
The “building block” design concept conceived by GaS Studio provides for diversified units (ceiling, floor, walls, furniture, windows), in order to make them versatile and modular according to the different type of branch.
Besides its serial products (among the suppliers are Estel, Interface, Universa Selecta) Gas could also supply some customized furniture and some designed for this purpose by Oil Design Lab, industrial design brand of GaS Studio.
So, the new ING branches feature a new, efficient layout yet with a domestic mood and all those areas required by the bank: waiting, ATM, self service, video information, desks for fast consulting or prolonged meetings with customers.
The climate of trust, transparency and willingness to communicate is conveyed through a transparent environment, bright; without doors and barriers or enclosed spaces.
Interior design, colors and comfort.
The neutral tones of grey, (walls) white (desks and seating) and black (ceiling) form the background palette and orange – the corporate color – stands out against the perimeter walls together with natural wood ( floor and furniture details).
Privacy and acoustic comfort are ensured by walls in micro-perforated material and hanging sound absorbing baffles.
In addition to the functional lighting by spots there are decorative circle lamps and bright words that identify the different areas.
