“Space of relationships” as meaning of the workplace is the theme of the Metaprogetto workshop of the Faculty of Design of the Politecnico di Milano.
The students, advised by professors Paola Silva Coronel, Marco de Santi and Francesca Balena Arista, offered 14 different visions.
A selection of the 4 best models has already been presented at the WOW! 5th anniversary event.
On the occasion of the Milan Design Week it will be possible to see all the models at the Unifor showroom (Milan 17/22 April 2018).
Workplaces today are highly specialized spaces dedicate to the productive activity, customer relations and interaction with all new available media.
Although this technology has simplified and speeded up many tasks, actually
we spend more and more time “behind the desk“. At office we work, we have meetings, we present important projects, often have lunch, sometimes have dinner.
Senior executives write and print by themselves, documents that once were done by an efficient secretary. We create multimedia presentations with photo and video editing thanks professional tools that are much more user-friendly today.
Almost every work (non-manufacturing) can be performed today outside
the office, which does no longer represent a privileged container with advanced technologies, but a place dedicated to relationships. It is the environment in which people interact “off-line” and where we realize that personal dialogue is increasingly difficult and complex. The design of work environment then becomes a sort of relationship scenography, a metaphor of our contemporary society where we like to be “social” but then we take plenty of “selfies” undisputed manifesto of solitude.
The students of the workshop have formulated their own personal response giving life to different places witness of our time and able to amplify our moods and necessities: linving abandoned buildings, creating suspended clouds, like thoughts waiting to be
formulated. Interiors where hide oneself, like in an African swamp or among video-game levels.
Each project is told by a model, a video and a booklet, which explain personal interpretation of the brief.
