Stral is the new branch of Italian electro-technical company Palazzoli, dedicated to the production of outdoor LED lighting systems and appliances in stainless steel.
Ottagono is Stral’s trendiest line, designed by Isao Hosoe, and proposes an innovative way to experience light, combining the best possible functional, safety and durability performances.
“Ottagono brings back some magic to our lives, it is not light that opposes itself to darkness, but light and darkness that interact to fill the world we live in with meaning” adds the designer Takeo Hosoe. “The global socio-economic development has been based up until now on a technological and scientific rationality, neglecting our psychological well being. Life is not only a question of functionality, but also of perception of space, linked to taste, colour, sound, light and human relationships. Design must be a bridge between matter and mind to contribute to the quality of life in the third millennium”.
With beams of 20,30 and 45 degrees, Ottagono has a “symbolic-meaning” shape, taking inspiration from the Fengshui philosophy, which identifies the octagon as the ideal mix of a square (shadow) and a circle (light).
“Thanks to a system of interchangeable filters, Ottagono ‘sculpts’ the shadows to create meaning” says Caterina Massardi, marketing and sales manager.
Ottagono is able to create effects of strong aesthetic impact with a particular attention to energy saving and, thanks to its unique design, it can be use everywhere, also in indoor spaces.
That’s why it has been designed with the use of the latest LED technology and of excellent materials, such as stainless steel and beveled crystal glass.
