Designed in 1965 by the famous architect and designer Gae Aulenti, the lamp Pipistrello (Bat), had the Google Doodle last December 4, 2013, the day when its creator would have turned 86 years. In 2015 this design icon, also exhibited at MoMA in New York, is in the limelight with an incredible gold edition to celebrate the important 50th anniversary.
Many variations of this cult object were produced (MiniPipistrello, LED version, different colors and finishes, last year also copper) to celebrate the 50 years of Pipistrello, Martinelli Luce has produced the exclusive Gold anniversary edition, for the first time presented in Paris at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
A new very precious look, available in two versions: the first is made of a thin gold plating (2,100 Euro) the second one, ”luxury” has a plating to 24 carats (27,000 Euro).
Gae Aulenti said: “I have not considered a lamp from the technical point of view or as a device to produce light, but as a form harmoniously connected with the contest it was created for.
Pipistrello, designed by Gae Aulenti in 1965, is a table or floor lamp, diffused light, adjustable height. Glazed stainless steel telescope. White opal methacrylate diffuser. Base and knob in white, dark brown and in copper. With LED light source, electronic ballast on the plug. Minipipistrello edition is only available with LED light, in white, brown color or glossy copper.
