Among the various GFT Italia offices designed by DAP Studio, the new Turin headquarters represents an exemplary project from various points of view.
From an architectural point of view, it expresses the link between interior design and the pre-existing connotation.
From a conceptual point of view, it is the bearer of a new vision of a post-pandemic workplace inspired by American clubhouses: a periodic meeting place where to trigger common creative processes, as explained by architect Mariangela Frisardi of DAP Studio, in this video interview.
The new GFT headquarters is able to blend opposites that seem irreconcilable: spaces to trigger common creative processes, but also to concentrate; spaces designed for meetings while ensuring spacing, flow control and safety; spaces bearing a corporate identity, but also capable of welcoming thanks to their strong domestic mood.
The identity is expressed through the enhancement and recovery of the exposed pipes and orange pillars that punctuate the volumes of the 1980s building designed by Ludovico Quaroni and Studio Passatelli.
The DAP Studio project operates a sort of perceptual alteration by introducing new cylindrical volumes of different sizes and functions into the landscape of the large open plan office (800 sqm) that radically transform the perception of spaces and convey the indoor paths in a fluid way.
While the orange pillars tell the building’s past, the new, more neutral and abstract volumes, with textured surfaces that react to light, tell the future of this IT company.
The formal cleanliness, flexibility and visual permeability, punctuated by columns, meeting rooms, offices and service rooms are the architectural expression of a new office concept born from the reflections of DAP Studio in agreement with the client, to rethink the office in the post-covid era.
The space that expresses these changes is a balanced and fluid mix of touch down workstations and large spaces that evokes American clubhouses.
The workplace is conceptually transformed into a place to welcome teamwork and encourage sharing and informal discussion in an atmosphere of safety and tranquility and at the same time improves the sense of belonging through symbolic value and strong corporate identity.
