The Narvalo FFP3 anti-smog and anti-virus protective mask, was launched with the evocative pay off “Air of change” and is winner of the Red Dot Award 2021. It is designed to defend against viruses, but also against urban pollution.
Entirely made in Italy , it was created by the startup Narvalo, a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, in collaboration with BLS, an Italian company specialized in the production of respiratory protection devices for over fifty years. Not just a defense against viruses, but a new way of conceiving urban mobility with greater attention and awareness of pollution and air quality.
Narvalo Urban Mask, is the first IoT mask combining design, protection, performance and technology.
It is available on active.narvalo.design and the Kickstarter campaign is available for purchase at a discounted price.
The Active Shield has an integrated smart fan able to constantly optimize the air flow inside the mask, therefore reducing the accumulation of heat, moisture and especially CO2; furthermore, sensors provide relevant data about the user’s breathing performances.
Additionally, the Active Shield interacts with smartphone through the Narvalo app. Thanks to the sensors in the mask and the smartphone’s GPS, this connected ecosystem analyses the user’s breathing performances and provides a report regarding the quality of the air encountered during the commute through the city.
Thanks to the layer of activated carbon and the Zero filtering technology by BLS (a company with over 50 years of experience in the production of respiratory-protection devices), Narvalo Urban mask filters over 99% of pollutants such as particulate matter, pollens, odours, viruses, and bacteria.
