Today, was formally inaugurated NEXXT, the new Fastweb headquarters the CEO Alberto Calcagno defines as “a space capable of enabling smarter working models, constantly focused on sustainability.
An open, dynamic and highly innovative workspace that promotes collaboration, interaction and an increasingly agile work thanks to the most modern digital technologies.”
The moving is in progress: within the first few months of 2020 all the 1400 Fastweb employees will be hosted in the 18,000 square meters HQ that seems to rise from the water; the building is the first step of the Symbiosis development area, designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel for Covivio Group.
The new headquarters are located a few steps away from the Fondazione Prada that together with the beautiful Piazza Adriano Olivetti and its ruderal garden and pools, offers a breathtaking view from inside the offices.
It is a headquarters dedicated to innovation, both in the building and in workstyles. A concept well expressed in the name, NEXXT oriented to the future, with the double “X” that refers to the next twenty years of development and in particular to 2020 when Fastweb will develop the 5G infrastructure. The double “X” also recalls the shape of the two large concrete structures supporting the building.
NEXXT, a smart workplace.
NEXXT reflects the philosophy of Smart Working, a way of working introduced in a structured way since 2015 and developed through a participatory, sharing and co-design approach.
The project of the new HQ starts from the awareness that workplace is an enabling factor for work dynamics; it is a place designed to encourage communication and interaction both between colleagues and towards the social and urban context.
NEXXT is therefore a flexible and adaptable smart office; a widespread office based on the work anywhere paradigm, characterized by open plan areas designed for sharing; without assigned workstations and without fixed phones. Everyone can choose where and with to work by booking the Agorà app.
The open plan areas are supported by phone booths, focus rooms for concentration, various types of meeting rooms – also equipped with videoconference– and dynamic break and lounge areas for informal meetings.
The welfare room and the changing rooms with showers have been designed to stimulate the sports activities and encourage work-life balance.
Building sustainability and workstyles.
NEXXT is a LEED Platinum certified building thanks to the high sustainability levels of the shell, the interior spaces, the systems, the materials and the behaviors.
It also includes photovoltaic panels on the roof; large windows for maximum use of natural light; water efficiency; use of products with low VOC content. The lighting of meeting rooms and common areas is activated only with the presence of people. The company is also #plasticfree.
The Fiber Cloud, a symbolic site specific installation.
At night a lighting element that spreads outwards from NEXXT gives life to the Piazza Adriano Olivetti, it is the Fiber Cloud designed by the architect Giuseppe Tortato who also designed the most prestigious areas of the headquarters, including the reception hall, the boardroom and the CEO office.
And actually from the office of the CEO Alberto Calcagno, at the highest floor, the lighting sculpture composed of 200 meters of LED tube twists in soft curves to the ground floor. It is something like a “cloud of ideas” that radiates the entire building and its inhabitants, representing the energy of Fastweb and connecting the office interiors with the square and the city outside.
The chromatic and formal energy also dominates the areas designed by Giuseppe Tortato, interpreting Alberto Calcagno’s wishes.
The bivalent office of the CEO responds to the need for an private office for activities that require concentration, but also for sharing ideas and projects: a spectacular irregular wall, in the yellow corporate color, creates a vibrant boundary between private and collective space.
While the reception desk – corporate yellow too- is inspired by a ship control deck, the place where orders turn into actions.
Estel, main supplier and partner.
Estel, which has been committed to promoting the “Italian Smart Office” since over 5 years, has found in Fastweb a partner with a similar corporate philosophy.
Space planning has been developed in compliance with the principles of activity based working.
For the supply of 1000 workstations (out of 1400 employees) Estel P45 system with solid wood legs were chosen.
The employees’ personal effects are housed in Lockers equipped with digital lock.
The open plan areas are supported by smart areas created with furnishings able to stimulate the working team (Baobab tables), support informal meetings (Sanmarino tables), guarantee privacy (Dolly Chat acoustic sofas) or offer moments of relaxation (Polpetta armchairs).
For more formal meetings, there are special soundproofed meeting rooms with special P45 meeting tables.
The prestigious Board Room designed by arch Tortato is highly personalized; it includes a sculptural pentagonal desk, a dividing wall equipped with a screen and a videoconference system and a 7 meters long tailor-made meeting table placed next to Modo seats.
The supply is completed by the Conference Room, built with Kendo auditorium seating and Asterisco speaker desk.
In agreement with the client, all the products used are LEED® and FSC® certified.
The task chairs in the open plan areas were supplied by Herman Miller (Mirra for the workstations and Setu in the meeting areas).
