ONE (Ocean Network Express), the name of the joint venture created from the merger of (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Nippon Yusen Kaisha‘s activities in the container sector, is a new brand featuring a strong and clear image, which is the result of the chief paradigm underlying C&W’s (Cushman & Wakefield) project for the new headquarters in Genoa. Cardex is the furnishings supplier.
The project was developed according to the guidelines of comfort, hospitality, collaboration, innovation and style, to face the major challenge: the need to group together different business realities -including colleagues and ways of working- in one innovative, and functional workspace focused on employees satisfaction.
The building overlooks the commercial port of Genoa and makes a visual connection with ONE’s business. This business is also evoked by some customized design details inside the offices.
The core of the building 8 stairs, restrooms, elevators,) was enlarged to include the ancillary activities of the new offices.
It was then encased in a quite solid coating, to evoke the shape of a container and define its perimeter, thus forming a visual guide round which the large corridor was developed.
According to activity based working, some communication, collaboration and chill out areas were create close to the large open plan areas furnished with assigned desks.
Together with traditional meeting rooms, the workplace also offers plug in workstations, standing meeting points, brainstorming rooms and work lounges.
The result is a workplace that allows different ways of collaboration according to different activities and offering technological areas or spaces featured with a more domestic mood.
A special attention was focused on acoustic comfort: thank to a mix of different kind of false ceilings it was possible to identify different working areas and improve acoustic performances.
The choice of the carpet flooring also contributes to the acoustic quality of the workplace: the eco-sustainable and modular collection World Woven by Interface.
The application of Design&Build was also a formula for success. Synergy between project and implementation allowed to carry it out in a very short time.
The C&W Design+Build division was started in 2018 by the Cushman & Wakefield’s Project & Development Services.
