As always, the 2022 edition of the Osservatorio Smart Working of the Politecnico di Milano entitled “The Work of the Future at the Crossroads” was full of stimuli and content; in addition to the results of the survey, OSW22 provided concrete answers on what are the ways to go today to implement positive, sustainable, inclusive, collaborative ways of working and aimed at wellbeing, engagement and the achievement of results.
Although constantly increasing in large companies, an inevitable slight post-pandemic decline in smart working was recorded in Italy in SMEs and the PA; in total, the number of smart workers stands at around 3.6 million with growth forecasts in 2023.
For the first time, the survey identified three different profiles of smart worker and analyzed the energy costs and economic benefits of smart working: 600 euros / year for employees and 500 euros / year per workstation for the company.
There was no shortage of surprises: remote work without flexibility records lower levels of engagement and wellbeing not only compared to those who do True Smart Working, but also compared to the traditional methods of on-site workers.
