The multinational corporation AkzoNobel inaugurates the new Powder Technology Center in Como, Italy, a new center of industrial excellence in the field of powder coating.
Azkonobel was born in 1994 from the merger of Nobel Industries, explosives factory founded by the same Alfred Nobel who established the famous prize in 1895, and Azko, specialized in salts and chemical compounds. Since then they have developed world-leader powder coating products, completely sustainable and eco-friendly, without any solvent or heavy metal inside.
The Powder Technology Center is a new technological research laboratory that includes different activities conceived to support the Industrial & Consumer segment (a center of excellence in Europe for Building & Furniture and General Metal Finishes) both with marketing service and with management of different aspects from key customers, to cross-segment technologies and raw materials, along with tasks concerning the analysis and the development of new products. The PTC will also be a center for testing new colour collections and trends in the Architecture and Design fields.
The AzkoNobel branch in Como is currently the biggest and the most modern powder coating production center of the company, hosting 45 experts among researchers, chemists and engineers. The factory works with an Integrated Quality, Environment and Safety System certified under the current regulations which achieved the “Excellence Certification” in 2007, the only company in the powder coating business.
