There are two fundamental themes that connect the architectural projects of Scandurra Studio Architettura: the relationship between man and nature and the concept of Smart Office. According to Alessandro Scandurra it is important that the buildings are founded with the natural environment that surrounds them.
Gardens and courtyards offer unexpected green places, overlooking public paths. In particular, the two projects in progress we present here follow this philosophy.
These buildings respect the most advanced environmental sustainability standards and have obtained LEED certification (LEED Gold for the offices of Banca Agricola Milanese and LEED Platinum for the White Moon of Viale Fulvio Testi).
“Our lifestyles have opened up to connections, work spaces are more free, relationships between people, information and places are increasingly fluid, so the Smart Office is a way to give value to the dialogue between things ” Alessandro Scandurra quoted.
Banca Agricola Milanese.
Scandurra Studio Architettura has won the by-invitation competition announced by Hines and Savills for the renovation of the Banca Agricola Milanese headquarters located at Via Mazzini 9-11, Milan. The aim of this project is to preserve and restore the historic bank building, which dates back to the mid-1930’s, with special care to preserve its historic street-facing façades.
The project further focuses on the interiors and the circulation, and aims to optimize all sales areas and offices by creating a green central area that is both a garden and courtyard, which dramatically transforms the current layout.
The green courtyard is overlooked by all offices and includes a trailing plant system along the façades that mitigates the interior microclimate: this green heart contributes both to the building’s new architectural identity and the higher quality of its working environment. This project regenerates the building from the inside and changes its relationship with the surrounding city area, allowing the outside street to penetrate the building and reach all floors.
White Moon
White Moon, located at Viale Fulvio Testi 280, Milan, has been acquired by the real-estate funds company Kryalos. This renovation is part of an overall transformation of the industrial area in North-East Milan.
The building will have a new transparent façade composed of simple and clear geometry, affording fully open views from the inside. The scope of the work includes additions or alterations to form, materials, and energy-saving systems.
White Moon will give a new interpretation and opened to the city, starting with a new entrance from Viale Fulvio Testi. The existing fence will be removed and a new central doorway will welcome visitors from the public exterior to the private interior. The building will be surrounded by a new green area, including a public walk that will connect to the existing long tree-lined avenue. Lastly, SSA will create a new covered roof terrace from which a view of the city can be enjoyed.
