A new chapter in the successful collaboration between Cino Zucchi and De Castelli. After Copycat and the well-known Archimbuto for the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale -now became the permanent entrance to the Italian Pavilion- the Milanese architect proposes new “grafts” in the elegant building in the very central via Visconti di Modrone 20 in Milan for the new De Castelli showroom.
The austere wooden door comes alive thanks to the insertion of false bronze portals and a calendar-door that provides a different screen for each month (the very Milanese twist handle is a master touch).
Inside, the atmosphere is almost sacred … A succession of precious arches, portals and niches identifies the areas that represent the three souls of De Castelli: collection, surfaces, architectural.
Each area surprises us with unprecedented refinement and attention to detail.
In the central area totems with important decorations that combine metals and colored concrete and impressive bronze bookcases that dominate the central meeting table.
On the right, a sort of gallery welcomes in the various apses the furnishings created by various designers.
The theme of the arch also returns to the room on the left where many fascinating materials in different finishes are displayed in the form of small arches on shelves characterized by a “tooth” in metal rod.
Revisited and ennobled, the rod is another recurring element with which the splendid equipped wall blurring upward is also made.
It is an exhibition space that tells the expressive abilities of metal and the very high craftsmanship of this company that is always aimed at technological innovation.
