Piuarch in collaboration with the Fendi Architecture Department has created a building that responds to the client’s needs to “combine the excellence of its product with the creation of an architectural sign of great aesthetic and environmental value“.
The result is a highly energy efficient building, in dialogue with the surrounding nature of the Tuscan countryside.
A horizontal architecture not featured as a graft, but as a real integration into the landscape. Recomposing the hillside of the place where it is located, the new HQ is a biophilic design conceived as a raised garden capable of healing the fracture in the territory of Bagno a Ripoli (Florence) caused by an old quarry.
An opportunity to establish positive land management dynamics and a valid model to follow.
Since the preliminary phases, the Piuarch concept was developed together with the landscape architect Antonio Perazzi, and the Place itself suggested the shape of this complex of about 14,000 square meters on a single level which define a dynamic plan with fluid circulation and functions integrated by a central path, delimited by transparent walls, which creates an osmosis between inside/outside and connects people and the different activities.
The green roof returns the hill to its original shape, it is conceived as a large roof garden that can be used by employees, interrupted by patios that provide ventilation and natural light to the underlying internal environments, only apparently underground.
“The idea was to reconstruct a natural landscape through architecture that disappears within the landscape itself. When an architectural project also includes a landscape project, the symbiosis with the environment develops naturally,” explains Gino Garbellini, a partner at Piuarch.
The complex houses executive and administrative offices, a restaurant, a production warehouse, laboratories and a school of haute leather goods, its architectural and environmental quality perfectly reflects and expresses the high quality standards of this made in Italy luxury brand well-known worldwide.
